Amid a ban on online gambling, more people in India have started playing at offshore casinos. This is evidenced by the results of a study by CUTS International.
It is noted that before the ban, the number of players in illegal casinos was 68.3%. After the ban, this number rose to 82.0%.
In addition, the amount of money spent by players in casinos has also increased. Until September 2025, most players spent between $12 and $60 per month. After the ban, the proportion of players with minimal monthly spending decreased. Meanwhile, the number of those who spend more has increased: 26.2% reported spending $60–$120, 7.2% — $120–$300, and another 6.3% — more than $300 per month.
Closed groups in messengers have become the main channels of access to offshore casinos. Direct access via the website or app has fallen to second place. Recommendations from friends and links on social networks have also become less common. The popularity of mirrors and pre-saved QR codes has grown, but these methods remain secondary.
