    From January to November 2025, bookmakers paid 8.82 billion reais ($1.59 billion) in gambling taxes.

    This happened against the backdrop of a change in the approach to market regulation in the country. For comparison, in November 2024, this sector brought in only 13 million reais to the budget, and in November 2025, it was already 852 million reais.

    The money came from several sources:

    • taxes on GGR — 1.897 billion reais ($341 million);
    • income taxes — 1.536 billion reais ($276 million);
    • special payment from fixed odds betting — 3.114 billion reais ($560 million).

    In 2026, the state will begin to receive even more money from betting and fintech companies. In particular, the following changes are planned:

    • the tax for fintech companies will increase from 9% to 15%;
    • the tax on the gross revenue of betting companies (GGR) will increase from 12% to 18%.

    The authorities expect that:

    • fintech companies will bring an additional 1.6 billion reais ($288 million) to the budget;
    • additional betting fees will bring in 850 million reais ($153 million) as early as 2026.
